I only knew Jerry online, and only very superficially. We didn't agree on much; the generational divide often made it hard, if not impossible, to see eye-to-eye on most subjects.
Nevertheless, he was one of the few who embraced Thelema fearlessly, following his will and sharing his truth without ever trying to impose it on anyone else. That alone impressed me dearly, since it remains the hardest thing to accomplish for most of those who rant about freedom.
He leaves behind a monumental body of work, that I hope in the coming years will be properly edited and presented to wider Thelemic audiences in easy-to-get formats.
In my opinion, no one dissected and fully explained the magical kernel of Crowley's Ordo Templi Orientis better than he did, and likely no one else ever will. He didn't care to try and bend the magick to the current zeitgeist and make it more palatable for a wider audience. He told it how it is, even when it made it clear how that particular path isn't what is being sold to the public by the current gatekeepers of the current.
May he be granted the accomplishment of his True Will.
I met Jerry way back in the 1980s. I followed his break with the corporate OTO and his take on the A.A. He was one of the relative handful of people I knew who broke with the Establishment without breaking with magick. I had just heard from him recently. He was - kind - to me at a time in my life when I really needed supportiveness. I don't know if any of the pseudo-magicians will miss him, but I will. "Yea, the accomplishment of his will".
