With a card like this and in times like these, I think I will skip the usual weather report introduction and go directly to the nitty-gritty.

As we navigate the turbulent currents of our time, the Ten of Swords emerges as a poignant mirror to the collective consciousness. This card, known as "Ruin" or the "Lord of Ruin" in the Thoth Tarot deck, embodies the culmination of trials and the stark reality of endings. With the Sun in Gemini, its energy is scattered and diffused, disrupting harmony and stability. The mercurial nature of Gemini diminishes the Sun's brilliance, symbolising confusion, vagueness, and a struggle to concentrate—echoing the discord we witness globally.

In July, a glimmer of hope appeared in a Tarot spread I felt compelled to draw for the upcoming presidential election. The news of Joe Biden stepping down to support Kamala Harris infused optimism into the political landscape. Yet, the Ten of Swords reminds us of the inevitable closures we must face. It signifies a final, perhaps brutal, ending—a necessary conclusion to pave the way for new beginnings.
