I think you’re touching on a very sensitive topic with a lot of tact. It’s crazy to me that public leftist like Hasan Piker gets cancelled by the left / identity politics all the time while he champions social progress.

Imho and i think you touched this point, it’s less a left / right problem than an algorithm problem.

As long as we’re going to live in a digital world driven by rage-fed algorithms, we won’t see a way out (yes, we made a choice as a society to live with these algorithms. we can do so much better by now).

sorry for the ted talk! great article as always.

I firmly agree that there is a problem of over zealousness in the policing of “correctness” that just misses the point. There are a number of people out there who lack the emotional or just regular intelligence to be able to debate sensitive subjects.

So much of this behavior is performative, that I doubt the majority of these people are truly progressive. Progressiveness requires an understanding that progress is not perfection, but a journey.

How to fix it though? Figure that out and you can defeat the demiurge! It is my personal opinion however, that “woke” and “wokeness” are psyop terms to generate social division and delegitimize valid social discourse. I just wish I could say that the concept was a “straw man” …it definitely isn’t, but perhaps we can do something about trolls, bots and other outrage machines generating bandwagons.
